Australian children’s content goes global

It has been a busy first half of the year for the sales team, with the ACTF catalogue of new and award-winning programs in high demand.

BYU TV (USA) picked up Gristmill’s award-winning live-action comedy favourites Little Lunch and The InBestigators, securing US Free TV rights for both hugely popular series.

RTE (Ireland) is the first international broadcaster to acquire Windcatcher, the heartwarming family feature film which premiered in Australia on local SVOD platform Stan in March this year to critical acclaim.

The film has also been acquired by First Nations Experience (FNX) as part of a package of programs for all ages. FNX is an American television channel exclusively devoted to Native American and World Indigenous content. Also acquired by FNX are the live-action tween adventure series MaveriX, animated preschool series Eddie’s Lil’ Homies, and the fourth season of Little J & Big Cuz. This is the first international sale of the new season, which premiered to Australian audiences on NITV and ABC on 8 July.

The upcoming third season of animated preschool series Kangaroo Beach, currently in production, has been acquired by Nickelodeon UK for a 2025 launch.

A range of content will air in the Pacific Islands this year, with broadcasters ABC International and PacificAus TV acquiring packages of content. PacificAus TV, which provides content to Pacific Island broadcasters as part of an Australian Government initiative, has acquired Are You Tougher Than Your Ancestors?, Barrumbi Kids, Bushwhacked! (Series 1 and 2), Hardball  (Series 1 and 2), Crazy Fun Park, Red Dirt Riders, Thalu, The InBestigators  (Series 1), Kangaroo Beach  (Series 1 and 2 and the Summer Special), and WAC (World Animal Championships).

The comedy-horror series Crazy Fun Park continues to capture worldwide broadcasters having been acquired by Estonian Television, while French broadcasters Mediawan and TFOU have procured the Emmy Award-winning factual series Built to Survive and the Kangaroo Beach Summer Special will air in the Middle East and north Africa after being acquired by beIN Media Group.
